Q. Does TMB have tax exempt status?
A. Yes, as a division of the
AEAI (American Evangelistic Association Inc.) we are under their tax exempt umbrella. Donations given to The Marriage Bed are tax deductible on US tax returns.
Our 501(c)(3) status is registered with
GuideStar.
Q. You say you are a no debt ministry?
A. Startup costs of the ministry not covered by donations were paid by a no interest, open ended, loan from the Byerly's personal finances. The loan is be repaid as funds allow.
Q. Who supports you?
A. Currently our donations come entirely from individuals. Our largest donation to date came from a 70 something widow!
Q. Is there anyone checking up on the finances of TMB?
A. In addition to the oversight of the Board of Directors, the AEAI receives quarterly and year end reports on our finances.
Q. Do you take credit card donations?
A. We now take credit cards through PayPal, and the Amazon Honor System. This allows us to receive credit card payments without the high overhead of a merchant account. We hope to shortly have a better solution for this.
Q. Do you use any third party fund raising organizations?
A. No.
Q. Do Paul and Lori receive any money from the ministry?
A. The Board has established a housing allowance and salary, which is paid as funds allow. Starting in December of 2007 Paul and Lori are raising their own support, and this should replace the housing allowance and salary from the general budget.
Q. Do Paul and Lori really put that much time into the ministry?
A. We spend many hours each week working on the web sites and e-lists, and answering private mail generated by the web site visitors. Much more could be done if there were time. As funds allow for payment of a salary we will reduce our outside work and devote more time to The Marriage Bed.
Q. Does TMB have any employees or use contract labor?
A. All web mastering, secretarial, and other work is done by Paul and Lori. We have used a CPA and a legal service to oversee the incorporation and make sure the financial books were set up correctly. We would like to hire out web design and maintanince, as this would free us to do research and write articles.
